napari 0.4.2#
We’re happy to announce the release of napari 0.4.2! napari is a fast, interactive, multi-dimensional image viewer for Python. It’s designed for browsing, annotating, and analyzing large multi-dimensional images. It’s built on top of Qt (for the GUI), vispy (for performant GPU-based rendering), and the scientific Python stack (numpy, scipy).

Highlights#
This is an emergency patch release to fix a regression in 0.4.1
that broke
magicgui generated dockwidgets which accepted layers as input (#1962). The
release also contains a number of other bug fixes and improvements, notably
a fix to a performance regression when adding many layers that came in the
0.3.6
release (#1945), and the beginning of adopting evented dataclasses
for our model files, which will result in a dramatic simplification of that
part of the codebase.
