Level: Beginner | Duration: ~4 hours | No Python required

This workshop introduces napari through its graphical interface — no coding knowledge needed. You will load and explore multi-dimensional images, annotate data, run interactive analysis using plugins, and learn where to find the napari community.

Prerequisites¶

• No prior napari or Python experience needed

• Install the napari bundled app before starting — see Setup and Installation

What you’ll learn¶

• Launch and navigate the napari viewer

• Open and visualize multi-dimensional image data

• Work with layer types: Image, Points, Shapes, and Labels

• Understand and edit image metadata (scale, units, axis labels)

• Manually annotate images

• Discover and install community plugins from napari hub

• Run interactive image analysis using napari-skimage

Block 1 — Welcome and First Images (55 min)¶

By the end of this block you will: have napari installed and open your first images.

Block 2 — Exploring the napari GUI (55 min)¶

By the end of this block you will: navigate the viewer confidently, adjust how images look, try the napari gallery, and understand image metadata.

Block 3 — Plugins and Annotation (45 min)¶

By the end of this block you will: install a plugin from the napari hub, open images with it, and manually annotate images using Points, Shapes, and Labels layers.

By the end of this block you will: run a complete filter → threshold → segment → measure workflow using a plugin GUI and know where to go from here.
